GPU memory board

A motherboard that treats accelerators as dense memory-channel modules: compact GPUs occupy DIMM-style positions while system RAM becomes part of the board itself.

01 / The proposition

Exchange memory modularity for compute modularity.

Conventional boards reserve their fastest and most symmetrical socket fields for removable memory. This concept reverses that priority: system RAM is selected at manufacture and soldered close to the processor, while compact GPU accelerators become the replaceable modules.

The board asks whether a memory-channel geometry can become a dense physical language for heterogeneous compute.

02 / Architecture

01

Soldered memory

Flat BGA memory banks shorten traces, reduce connector losses and free the vertical socket field.

02

GPU modules

Compact accelerator cards use reinforced DIMM-like connectors for power, fabric links and serviceability.

03

Local cooling

Each module carries a narrow cooling surface designed for directed chassis airflow.

04

Fabric control

A board-level switch coordinates bandwidth, coherency domains and accelerator isolation.

03 / What must be proven

Signal integrity, power density and replacement economics.

The concept depends on a connector and interconnect capable of much more than a memory bus, while soldered RAM transfers upgrade risk from the user to the platform designer. Thermal coupling between closely spaced accelerators is the other central constraint.
